about

"Tell me a story, about letting love go..."
These words were written ten years ago as salve for the ache of a marriage break up. It was also the start of songwriting again after stopping for over two decades.
Johnny's Blue's is a song about having the courage to go when it's time, even if that means leaving the things you love. Our evolving self is designed for this. When Stewart Maunder added the last belly sob of his tenor saxophone to this recording it felt like yet another ending, another beginning.

Recorded by Sam Johnson at Rhythm Ace Studio with support from New Plymouth District Council Creative Communities scheme.
